Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is intended to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one address, but to look as being sent from another, often with the idea to scam the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a special record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally have it. The record contains all the e-mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an email address within the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. When, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. In case you employ this solution, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam that look as if they have been sent from you.
SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting
If you host your domain names in a cloud web hosting account on our end and we manage the email addresses for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a separate section where you will be able to view which domain names are already protected. For the ones which aren't, you will be able to enable the SPF protection solution and configure various things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that emails can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. The last solution is the most secure one, and it can be used when we manage the e-mails for your domain names and you are not using some other email provider. The newly created records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email with your e-mail addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as a part of the conventional set of services that you will receive with this kind of web hosting. Starting the protection involves just several easy steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, therefore even if you've never employed this kind of function before, you won't have any issues. Through a really intuitive interface, you will simply need to insert the details of the mail server which will be certified to send out messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). The moment the recently made record propagates, nobody will be able to fake any email address for that particular domain name and send out e-mail messages from a server different from the one you have entered. This does not specifically have to be our mail server, but in case we handle your e-mails, you're able to allow one more level of protection by choosing an option that e-mails can be send from addresses @your-domain.com only in case the domain employs our MX records. Our technical support team will be able to help you 24/7 if you have any kind of questions regarding this service.
