Each registered domain has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain address to the servers of a particular hosting provider. This way, you've got both your site and your e-mails handled by the very same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are lots of other records, like A and MX. The former reveals which server manages the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (188.8.131.52), while the second one reveals which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, any time you enter a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you could be sent to the servers of another service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having different records for the site and the e-mails means you may have your site and your emails with 2 different companies if you'd like.
Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting
If you have a Linux cloud web hosting service
from us, you'll be able to view, set up and change any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a particular Internet domain has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to modify particular records via our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or e-mails directed to any other service provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool will even enable you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main Internet domain at all. If you choose to use the e-mail services of a different company and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do this with only a couple of clicks in the DNS Records section of your CP. You can even set different latency for each MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.
Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting service
, will permit you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if required, to edit any of them or set up new ones. Managing these records is very easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our educational videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to provide you with full control of all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're pointing your e-mails to a different company and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
